The Mold Removal service is a clean up of visible mold and goes above and beyond to remove mold from your vehicle.
General Guideline of the Step-by-Step Process:
Two detail technicians will arrive on-site to perform the service.
Mold remediation release of liability form is signed on-site.
We put on our Tyvek Hazmat Suits and P95 respirators to protect against lung and skin damage.
We then proceed to vacuum the entire interior of the vehicle removing all pet hair, dirt, or loose debris.
We proceed to perform an interior detail to clean the entire vehicle of loose debris and general dirt or grime:
One detail technician sprays degreaser soap onto each section of carpet or seating.
The other detail technician is using a soft drill brush to loosen the fabric and activate the degreasing soap into the material.
Steam is applied to the section to heat up the fabric and lift any stains to the top of the material.
The section is then immediately extracted by the other detail technician using a Mytee Lite Carpet and Upholstery Extractor to physically remove the stain.
The section’s fabric is then loosened again using a Tornador pulse spray pneumatic cleaning gun.
We then will remove the seats and carpets from the interior and treat these with spore killing chemicals. For the carpets we will power wash these to ensure as much dirt and grime is removed as possible. Sometimes the carpets will have to be replaced entirely.
We then clean the headliner and disinfect it as well. Sometimes we will have to remove the headliner to clean it or replace it entirely.
We will then replace the cabin air filter for your vehicle and disinfect the compartment.
The doors, panels, dashboard, seat belts, vents, and all various compartments are cleaned and disinfected. Sometimes we will have to take off the door panels to clean behind them where spores may be. Whether we do this or not depends on each vehicle and how bad the spore growth is.
After this, we run the vehicle’s ventilation system with an Ozone Generator Machine to additionally kill any spore and odor-causing contaminants.
After letting the machine run for about 30-45 minutes, we open up the vehicle and let the vehicle air out.
After these steps are completed we then disinfect the entire vehicle again with spore killing chemicals.
After all the sections are cleaned, we use Meguiar’s Refresher which instead of removing odor, actually replaces any possibly remaining odors by attaching a better scent to the fabric at a molecular level.
We then proceed to add UV protectants and leather conditioner when applicable to the doors, panels, dashboard, vents, and all various compartments.
Then we clean the door jambs and interior windows to a streak-free shine.
A 20-minute quality control check is performed to double-check all of the above steps were done correctly and completely.
We then will leave a dehumidifier running inside the vehicle to run for approximately 24 hours to remove any remaining moisture in the vehicle to prevent mold growth.
The card on file is then charged for the services.
We will return the next day to retrieve the dehumidifier.
